Forest Still

This work began with a question: what would a sculpture become if it remained undisturbed long enough for the forest to adopt it? Moss gathers across the stone, water darkens its surface, and vegetation begins to soften the distinction between created form and natural environment.

The figure does not appear abandoned. Instead, it seems to have entered a longer relationship with time. Forest Still captures a state in which age is not treated as loss, but as deepening character. The scene reflects the idea that presence can become more meaningful when it no longer seeks to remain untouched.

Moss symbolizes time, continuity, and the quiet return of life to every available surface. Unlike rapid growth, it develops gradually, suggesting restoration that takes place through patience rather than force.

Wet stone represents resilience shaped by exposure. The stream conveys ongoing movement, while the seated posture establishes a stable center within that flow. Filtered sunlight symbolizes partial understanding—the small but sufficient moments of clarity that appear within complex circumstances. The figure’s integration with the forest expresses interdependence, reminding the viewer that identity may become richer through connection rather than separation.
