Horizon of the Mind

Horizon of the Mind

Description

The Story Behind

The work echoes the Zen idea of shoshin, or “beginner’s mind,” through a figure facing an open, largely undefined horizon. Because the viewer sees the scene from behind the figure, the landscape becomes shared rather than observed from a distance. The image suggests approaching what lies ahead with attention and openness instead of filling the unknown with certainty.

Meaning & Symbolism

The rear-facing figure acts as an invitation into the scene rather than a portrait. Misty mountains represent distance, possibility, and what cannot yet be fully seen, while the flowering branch anchors attention in the immediate foreground. The contrast between enduring peaks and temporary blossoms places long perspective beside the present moment, reinforcing the work’s sense of openness.

Size Guide

The right artwork changes the character of a room. Choose a size that gives the work enough presence to breathe within your space.

For the most balanced display, choose artwork that spans approximately 60–75% of the width of the furniture beneath it. If you're deciding between two sizes, the larger option often creates a more refined, gallery-inspired interior.
