Bamboo Refuge

The work was inspired by the idea of a courtyard discovered after rainfall, when every surface appears newly defined. Water continues to move through the rocks, bamboo holds the remaining moisture, and the garden feels temporarily separated from ordinary time.

The seated figure was placed close to the water rather than elevated above it, reinforcing a sense of belonging within the environment. Bamboo Refuge represents the creation of an inner sanctuary—not through isolation from nature, but through deeper participation in it. It captures the moment when a space becomes more than scenery and begins to influence the pace of thought.

Bamboo symbolizes flexibility, integrity, and strength through responsive growth. Its vertical lines create a natural architecture, suggesting order without confinement. The waterfall represents continuous renewal and the release of accumulated tension.

Dark stone conveys permanence and grounding, while the clear pool symbolizes receptivity—the ability to receive movement without losing depth. The seated figure serves as the still center of the composition, not separate from the landscape but integrated into its rhythm. Filtered light represents awareness arriving gradually, illuminating only what needs to be seen in the present moment.
