Willow Stillness

This artwork was inspired by the appearance of a willow after rain, when its branches seem heavier yet more expressive. The tree bends toward the water, not as a sign of weakness, but as a record of adaptation.

There is no central monument or distant destination. The subject is simply a living form occupying its environment with patience. The broad area of open paper was preserved to give the tree room to breathe and to allow silence to become part of the composition. The work reflects a kind of maturity found in nature: remaining deeply rooted while allowing movement, weather, and time to reshape the outer form.

The willow represents resilience through flexibility. Its branches yield to wind and gravity without losing connection to the trunk, expressing a strength that does not depend on rigidity. The roots suggest continuity, memory, and an unseen source of support.
